June 16, 2013:
Northeast Ohio was pummeled with sever weather that included high winds, large hail and torrential downpours across the area. The powerful line of storms brought down trees and power lines while city’s like Willoughby saw ping pong sized hail. If Mother Nature damaged your home in anyway, here are a few things that you can do.
1) Take Pictures- If the area is safe to do so, collect pictures of the areas that were damaged.
2) Call a Professional- An experienced contractor that is familiar with his or trade should be able to help diagnose the problems and recommend the proper action steps to file an insurance claim.
3) Send Storm Chasers Away!- If someone knocks on your door and promises you a free roof, siding, windows etc… remember the old saying “if it sounds to good to be true…
4) File a Claim- If the damage is significant enough to file a claim then do so. However, we strongly encourage you to find a contractor that you are comfortable with and have them represent your interest at the time an adjustor comes out. An experienced, local contractor should be able to define items that may be overlooked by an adjustor and allow you to receive the most comprehensive replacement service that you are entitled to.
