Insulation has come a long way since the days of stuffing mud and straw between the beams! But the central truth remains: You need both heat and insulation to stay warm.

Older homes, built in the days of low-cost energy, lack the insulation they need to keep adequate heat in the house. An un-insulated attic accounts for 40 percent of heat loss through the roof!

R-Value really does matter! R-value is the resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value of your insulation, the less heat you lose. Depending on your heating system, a home in northeast Ohio requires an R-value of R-38 to R-49.

Proper air circulation is essential for effective insulation. Inadequate venting allows moist air that escapes through the insulation to condense in the cold attic air. This trapped moisture can cause wood rot, mildew, and water damage, and subtract years from the life of your roof.

Insulation and ventilation work hand-in-hand to minimize ice dams in the winter.Proper airflow prevents excessive heat buildup in your attic, causing snow to melt from the roof. This runoff then refreezes at the eaves causing ice dams. Adding soffit vents for intake air, ventilation baffles in the eaves, and ridge venting for exhaust air allows cooler fresh air to enter at the bottom and exit at the peak.

Blown-in insulation is the most economical way to insulate an older home. You get more R-value for your money and it covers all the “nooks and crannies” more effectively.

Upgrading your insulation when installing a new roof system is easy! By opening up a section of roof decking, we can gain access to the attic area, eliminating the need to carry equipment and material through your home.

Save money on heating and cooling bills and help stop damaging ice from forming on your home. Insulation works to keep energy in your living space, while keeping a constant temperature in your attic. This stops icicles and ice dams from forming during the cold weather, and saves you big money on air conditioning costs in the summer.
